1. Which Insurance plans do I accept?
I am currently
a participating provider for TRICARE.
2. Does this mean your insurance company/HMO won't pay for the
visit?
NO. Most of the patients seen in my clinic have
insurance and have been able to get reimbused through their "out of network" benefits.
If you can demonstrate to your insurance carrier
that the "in-network" child neurologists cannot schedule your child soon enough you may be able to cover the
visit as part of your "in-network" benefits.
3. Not sure of your benefits?
- Contact your insurance
company and ask if you have "out of network" benefits.
-
- Second, ask them for their policies regarding the usage of "out of network" benefits. This is when
you might ask if a referral is needed or if there is a deductible to be met.
-
- Some insurance companies
reimburse up to 80% of the visit for "out of network" providers but please be advised that specific
policies and amount of reimbursement are insurance carrier and plan
specific.
-
- You can also inquire
about the usage of a Health Savings Accounts or Flexible Spending account
to help reimburse the cost of the visit.
4. So, why choose the Child Neurology Clinic?
- New
patients visits are made within two weeks.
- *Emergency appointments may be
scheduled sooner if needed for conditions such as new onset seizures, concussions, or severe headaches.
- Each new patient is
scheduled to be seen by me for a total of 1 and1/2
hours. (Follow up visits typically varies between 30-45 minutes.)
- Keeping my administrative needs to a minimum has
allowed me to provide much more timely and focused care for my patients and their families.
As
a Board Certified Child Neurologist I believe in a “customized" approach when caring each patient. No
two patients' needs, concerns, or treatment plans are the same.
Each
visit with me emphasizes a thorough history, review of symptoms, addressing of patient/family concerns, neurological exam,
and patient education. Treatment plans
and any required testing are outlined at the end of each visit.
When considering
a child neurologist for your son or daughter please consider:
-The specialist's board qualifications and
academic background.
How long it takes to schedule your child for a visit.
-How much access you have to the physician.
-How much time is spent during the visit with the physician. For many practices a typical one hour new patient visit
translates to only 45 minutes of face-to-face time with the doctor. In my experience this often leaves families
with unanswered questions and an incomplete understanding of their child's diagnosis and plan.
Please
call my office and ask to speak to me personally if you would like to discuss my credentials, treatment approach, or have
questions regarding my fee schedule.
Thank you for considering my services for the neurological care of your child.
Respectfully,
Sanjai C. Rao D.O.
